In the heart of Halifax, our little fabric shop and sewing workspace is the perfect place for those seasoned at sewing and those just starting to take up the needle and thread to meet.
We love bringing our creative East Coast community together through hosting an ongoing series of workshops on site. You can easily expand your wardrobe and sewing abilities all at once! Our intimate classes are supportive and fun. The workshops we host in garment making and quilting are available at various skill levels – appropriate for beginners up to advanced sewers.
In the shop and online, you can choose from a wide selection of indie garment patterns from all over the world – jumpsuits, shirts, trousers, skirts and tees designed by: Paper Theory, Merchant & Mills, True Bias, Megan Nielson, Friday Pattern Company Sew House 7 and more. Patch Halifax also carries books on modern quilting, mending and tomes that are a true celebration of all things handmade.
And the fabrics! Quilting cottons from modern quilting cotton brands such as Dear Stella, Cotton & Steel Ruby Star Society… joyful bursts of wildflowers and paisley motifs brought to you by Liberty of London. Patch has the largest Canadian selection of Liberty classic Tana Lawns! Patch also carries an ever expanding and changing selection of garment focused linens, wools, rayons and tencels as well as favourites from the beloved Japanese brand, Nani Iro. But it’s best to peruse the colours and prints for yourself in our online shop. We can also provide you with the notions you’ll need to dive into your next project faster – needles, thread, zippers, buttons, labels and the like.
Don’t have the tools you need to sew at home? Sewing machine rentals are available as well. Sewing should be accessible to everyone. We can accommodate four renters at a time and you’ll need to book in advance. To book, just call the store at 902-423-0303 or drop a line to firstname.lastname@example.org. You can find full current details on rentals here.
Patch is a makerspace for everyone and we’re passionate about what we do.
